About the Project
44 FILMS is a collaboration between the Sports Media Center at the Newhouse School of Public Communications and the Syracuse University Athletic Department. The project is focused on short form nonfiction narrative filmmaking that puts the students at the forefront of every aspect of production, with the guidance of faculty and professional staff.
Stories from ideation to final distribution will be developed within the group of selected students who form 44 Films as a collective. Support from the Athletic department comes in the form of story ideation, access to archives (both digital and analog when necessary), scheduling of staff, student athletes and others as needed, and access to distribution platforms.
Principal faculty from the Sports Media Center leading 44 Films are Jordan Kligerman, Visiting Assistant Professor, and Olivia Stomski, Director of the Sports Media Center and professor of practice. Mike Lang, Assistant Athletic Director, Creative, is the main point of contact for the Athletic department and assists in the facilitation of work in conjunction with Athletic department staff.
