Everyone knows Syracuse for having a legendary #44 in their backfield, but Sean Tucker made #34 a number to remember. With a blend of football and track in his background, both Head Coach Dino Babers and Running Backs Coach Mike Lynch knew he’d be something special.

What is 44 Films?

44 Films is a project started by The Sports Media Center at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, in conjunction with the Syracuse Department of Athletics focused on short form non-fiction narrative filmmaking that puts the students at the forefront of every aspect of production, with the guidance of faculty and professional staff.

FLJ: Rise to the Rafters

From the Brick City to the Rafters. This is the story of how the current Syracuse Women’s Basketball Coach Felisha Legette-Jack went from just trying to play at Thornden Park to being the first female in Syracuse University to have their jersey immortalized. As a player Felisha Legette-Jack, among many personal accolades, was able to lead Syracuse to their first Big East Conference title and their first NCAA Tournament Appearance.

Playing for Kelly

This is the journey of Chris Lavalle, a graduate walk-on from the Syracuse Men’s basketball team. A high school standout from West Genesee who’s mother, Kelly, was an administrative assistant for the Syracuse program. While he followed his collegiate basketball journey to St. John Fisher Chris and his family had more on their plate.

Otto’s Origins

Otto. The Orange mascot who seems to connect with everyone and every aspect of the University wasn’t always the face of Syracuse Athletics. The Saltine Warrior came before the genderless mascot. The clothing and music associated with the Saltine Warrior was not representative of the native community and was offensive.
