From the Brick City to the Rafters. This is the story of how the current Syracuse Women’s Basketball Coach Felisha Legette-Jack went from just trying to play at Thornden Park to being the first female in Syracuse University to have their jersey immortalized. As a player Felisha Legette-Jack, among many personal accolades, was able to lead Syracuse to their first Big East Conference title and their first NCAA Tournament Appearance. She and those like her brother Ronnie or former teammate Sue Ludwig knew that her jersey retirement had far more meaning than just those on the court accomplishments. She is a person of empowerment and hard work, one who wants her story to be an example for those who are growing up in the inner city, doubting themselves. For Felisha Legette-Jack, if she can do it, so can you.
“My hope is that when people see my name and number get raised up at this 50 year mark, that they can just rush to the from door and realize that we don’t have to wait anymore, lets punch the door open and walk in and blaze your trail.” – Felisha Legette-Jack, Syracuse Women’s Head Basketball Coach.
